Files and Document Storage

Feel free to add documents, I am hopeful that this will be a resource that you will return to for your library programming needs.  If you use my documents and files, please use them properly and cite your source. I also encourage you to tweak it and make it your own.

Bibliography and Citation Documents

Book Lists and Bibliographies

  • GLBTQ_BIBLIO.xls
  • This is a fairly recent (2006) bibliography I compiled for the GLBTQ crowd. I highly encourage you to peruse the list and add some of the titles to your collection because every student deserves to have a book with relatable characters. I will update this with the 2007 titles when I can.

    PowerPoint

  • tuffreeppt2.ppt
    • Lorena Crow, Tuffree MS/Placentia Yorba Linda USD, uses PPT to showcase new books and info of interest to students.
    • Another PYLUSD paraprofessional utilizes PPT to publish student reviews and uses these on the computers as the screensaver.

    MovieMaker

  • Use MovieMaker to bring books to life! Take pictures of students or staff with a book, record a booktalk about the book shown, add effects to create transitions between books, add music from http://freeplaymusic.com to jazz up your lively booktalk. (Note: keep your pictures and music in a folder on your desktop together, if you don't you will have errors and it won't work properly.)

    Podcasting with Audacity

  • Use a program like Audacity to create booktalks or podcasts to promote your library programming and books.  I encourage you to invite your students to create their own podcasts of their book reviews- they love to think that someone "out there" is listening to them. I am assigning my student aides this very assignment.
  • The directions attached here are just for the download and very basic instruction. It is a very easy program to use and navigate. Be sure to download according to these instructions, the mp3 encoder is particularly important for uploads to the internet.
  • Also, be sure to use http://freeplaymusic.com so you are free of copyright issues and are modeling good Netiquette adhering to copyright restrictions on the publishing of music. Even if you have purchased a CD of an artist's music, you CANNOT post it to the web, that is considered a copyright infringement as you have re-published the material.
  • Lastly, script your podcast prior to recording as it will be much smoother and easier. You'll have less "ums" to edit out.  Remember to have fun!
